Ed Sheeran Praises 'Game

Ed Sheeran says Pharrell Williams and Timbaland's influence over dance music is so significant they must have secret brainstorming sessions to decide where they're taking it next.

The pair have enjoyed a phenomenal year, with Pharrell scoring two massive number one hits as featured vocalist on Daft Punk's Get Lucky and Robin Thicke's recent smash Blurred Lines.

Meanwhile Timbaland has been instrumental in Justin Timberlake's successful return to music following a seven year hiatus while also working with rap kingpin Jay-Z on his latest album, Magna Carta Holy Grail.

Speaking ahead of the MTV Video Music Awards nominations, Ed admits the pair have had a tremendous effect on dance and hip hop since the turn of the year.

"I think Timbaland and Pharrell must have this kind of secret meeting every year where they go, 'We're gonna change disco music this year,' he told MTV.

Ed - who has been nominated for an award at this year's show - also illustrated how he imagined such an exchange would take place.

"You know what, that stuff on the radio sounds s**t, so I'm gonna work with Daft Punk and Robin Thicke, and you're gonna work with Timberlake and Jay-Z and we're gonna change the game for this year," he said.

The singer-songwriter also credited the pair for helping breathe fresh life into dance music with their disco inspired tracks.

Big Fan: VMA nominated Ed Sheeran can't wait to hear what Pharrell and Timbaland do next (WENN)

"They made disco music a genre again - like with Suit and Tie, Blurred Lines and with Get Lucky," he said. "Now all the generic dance producers are going to be making music like that and dance music is going to get really interesting.

"I think Timbaland and Pharrell, whenever they decide to, they can just change the whole club scene with just a couple of songs."
