Award-winning singer Ed Sheeran is taking credit for Courteney Cox's new romance with Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid.

The 49-year-old Cougar Town actress visited her former Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston's holiday party last Sunday with the Belfast native.

Ed confirms they are dating, and claims to have initiated their love affair.

"I wasn't allowed to talk about this, actually, but it's just gone public. My housemate, who I've lived with for a year, I introduced him to Courteney Cox," Ed told OMG.

"They started dating and are crazy about each other and I ended up spending a lot of time living in her beach house and therefore bumping into all these random people. We spent Thanksgiving eve at Jennifer [Aniston]'s and Thanksgiving day at Courteney's."

Ed can't believe he is hanging out with stars like Jennifer and Courteney.

The 22-year-old Grammy-nominated British musician often has to remind himself he is really connected to these celebrities.

"Jennifer'... what the f**k!?" he exclaimed, amazed by his connection.

Ed also admitted despite communing with A-list celebrities, he wasn't on his best behaviour at Jennifer's Thanksgiving party.

"I drunk a bit too much and needed a time out," he explained.

"So I walked down and lay on one of the beds outside the pool and passed out there.

"Courteney's was a bit more tame."

Courteney shares nine-year-old daughter Coco with her ex-husband David Arquette.

The couple split in 2010 after 11 years of marriage but have remained good friends.

The singer-songwriter revealed that he's been living in the Friends star's beach house ever since he introduced Courteney to her new boyfriend, Johnny McDaid.

Johnny - who is a member of indie rock band Snow Patrol - used to be Ed's housemate.

"I wasn't allowed to talk about this, actually, but it's just gone public. My housemate, who I've lived with for a year, I introduced him to Courteney Cox," Ed revealed to .

"They started dating and are crazy about each other and I ended up spending a lot of time living in her beach house and therefore bumping into all these random people. We spent Thanksgiving eve at Jennifer [Aniston]'s and Thanksgiving day at Courteney's."

Despite the casual name dropping, red-head Ed, who was recently named one of People magazine's Sexiest Men Alive, seemed amazed himself by the fact he is on first-name terms with two of Hollywood's best known television actresses, stopping mid-sentence to say, "Jennifer'... what the f***!?".

But that didn't stop him from revealing that he passed out by Jen's pool during the Thanksgiving eve festivities. "I drunk a bit too much and needed a time out," explained Ed. "So I walked down and lay on one of the beds outside the pool and passed out there."

"Courteney's was a bit more tame," he added.

He added: "I passed out... she has this crazy house with a big staircase that goes down to the pool. I had drunk a bit too much and needed a time out, so I went down and laid on one of the beds outside by the pool and passed out there."

Clearly feeling the hangover the next day, he added: "Courteney's was a bit more tame."
