Metta World Peace Says Lakers Are Going to NBA Finals, Wants Apple Pie From ...

Metta World Peace needs a camera and a microphone focused on him at all times. Somebody make this happen.

World Peace was in Manhattan on Wednesday to promote his children's book, Metta's Bedtime Stories. As he often does, he offered some thoughts of several topics - some basketball-related, some not.

World Peace, who was waived by the Lakers and signed by the Knicks this offseason, told ESPN.com that he still expects the Lakers not only to compete for the Western Conference title but to be present for the NBA Finals. He also revealed a sweet tooth for organic apple pie.

"I think the Lakers are going to go to the NBA Finals," World Peace told Mike Mazzeo. "I think Kobe [ Bryant's] gonna be healthy, they're gonna get Pau [ Gasol]. The Lakers are gonna make a big trade like they always do. They're gonna get another good player, boom, boom, and they're gonna go to the Finals.

"I believe it. Kobe's gonna come back, he's gonna play team ball and Pau's gonna play well."

World Peace was asked a number of things, such as whether he expects to start, how he feels about the Knicks' new rivalry with the Nets and how far he thinks his new team can get in the East. He didn't really want to talk about any of that, though.

"I just want apple pie," World Peace said. "I don't feel like talking. I want to go to Whole Foods, enjoy my Whole Foods and play with my teammates. I don't have the energy to go back and forth with words because there's just too many great things happening in New York City for me to be going back and forth."

We have to agree with World Peace. Pie is delicious, and we'd much rather eat apple pie than talk about the Knicks-Nets rivalry, too. At least the man has his priorities in order.
